New Paris Church of the Brethren offers children of the community an opportunity to grow in Christ through the Awana program.  This Biblically based nondenominational ministry allows us to share the gospel in a unique and fun way.

Awana stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.  It is based on 2 Timothy 2:15 which says, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

Children memorize scripture to build a solid foundation in their faith.  They also enjoy singing, playing games, participating in theme nights, and receiving awards for their accomplishments.

Awana is on Wednesday nights from September through March.  The evenings begin at 5:30 with a meal for the children and ends at 7:30.  The club schedule consists of an opening ceremony, large group time, handbook time, games, and a closing ceremony.  The opening ceremony is a time of singing and worship and for receiving announcements.  The children receive a Bible lesson during the large group time as well as receive awards for their accomplishments.  During the handbook time, the clubbers memorize scripture and complete written activities.  The game time is a highlight of the evening with various entertaining activities.  We then close the evening with music and announcements.

Nearly every evening has a theme attached such as Super Soaker, Faith Factor, Pajama Night, and Grand Prix.  The clubbers enjoy participating in these often-unusual activities.
