3/12/2018 A Thought for Today: “Times of Deception”
The disciples of Jesus wonder when Jesus’s kingdom on earth will come. Jesus tells them this.
5 Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you.
6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many.
7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
We live in an age of deception.
People call on our phones and try to have us take part in a scam.
People may come to our houses dressed as someone from a utility company, simply trying to “case” our houses and see if we are worth robbing.
Just as Jesus warns His disciples about being deceived, we too can be deceived.
We can even be deceived in our Churches; when we are not taught the scriptures in truth.
There are pastors still teaching the “health and wealth gospel.”
There are preachers who are changing the word of God.
Brothers and sisters, read the scriptures, yourselves. This is the best way to guard against deception.
