A Thought for Today January 13, 2019

“Where are the Workers?”

This is a good question for Northern Indiana.
There are not enough workers to go around.
At least one restaurant closed and others have shortened their hours because they can’t find employees.
Some restaurants keep their drive-through service going but the inside restaurant closed.

The Lord God has been looking for workers for as long as mankind has been created.

I invite you to read the following scriptures.
Matthew 9:35-38
35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.
36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Some of the words of these verses are included in a song called “My House is Full”.
Please meditate on this song and see if you (with the Lord’s help of course) can be one of the Lord’s helpers.

“My House is Full”
There are peace and contentment in my Father’s house today
Lots of food on the table and no one is turned away
There is singing and laughter as the hours pass by
But a hush calms the singing as the Father sadly cries

My house is full, but my field is empty
Who will go and work for Me today
It seems my children all want to stay around my table
But no one wants to work my field
No one wants to work my field

Push away from the table
Look out through the windowpane
Just beyond this house of plenty
Lies a field of golden grain
And it’s ripened unto harvest
But the reapers, where are they?
In the house
Oh, count the children
Hear the Father sadly say

My house is full, but my field is empty
Who will go and work for Me today
It seems my children all want to stay around my table
But no one wants to work my field
No one wants to work my field

Souls are crying
Men are dying
Won’t you lead them to the cross

Go and find them
Help to win them
Win the lost at any cost

But no one wants to work in my field
No one wants to work in my field
